Mark Hamill Is Responsible for Saving Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Genre icon Mark Hamill is responsible for the return of the beloved comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine — at least, according to series star Terry Crews, who plays Sgt. Terry Jeffords on the show.

Last week, the five-season FOX comedy series was cancelled by the network, which spurred an outpouring of support from fans who demanded the show be picked up by another network or streaming service. One of those fans was Star Wars legend and Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill.

Sure enough — only one day later — NBC decidedly picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a thirteen-episode sixth season. Crews, of course thrilled by this news, went on to personally thank Hamill via Twitter, crediting the actor for using the might of The Force to bring back the fan-favorite comedy series.
