Fans of Marvel’s Agent Carter have lobbied for more than two years for the canceled ABC drama to be revived by Netflix, but one of the producers doesn’t see how it would fit in alongside the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
Executive producer and screenwriter Jose Molina was asked by Den of Geek about the recent push for Agent Carter to return on ABC in the wake of Roseanne‘s cancellation, and what it would take for the series to return to television.
“It would be lovely to think that Netflix (home to so many awesome Marvel shows) would pick it up,” he replied. “But their shows all share a common universe and timeline that Carter doesn’t share. Creatively, these shows tend to be very dark, and Agent Carter just doesn’t have dark and brooding in its DNA.”

Molina also isn’t optimistic about Agent Carter‘s chances on another streaming service. “I think the creative team would all line up to return — the cast, the writers, etc. — it would just be a matter of finding an outlet interested in airing the show,” he said. “Given the series’ ratings when it aired on ABC, finding that outlet seems like a bit of a long shot.”
Molina’s comments track with those of Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb, who last month that while star Hayley Atwell would love to return, there’s not much interest from networks.
