Arrow's Stephen Amell Says Green Arrow Would Beat 'Any Iteration of Hawkeye'

When it comes to superhero archers, Stephen Amell has a clear opinion on who reigns supreme. While speaking at a panel at Motor City Comic Con, the Arrow star was asked how DC Comics’ Green Arrow would stack up against Marvel’s Hawkeye.

“I think that any iteration of Green Arrow would beat any iteration of Hawkeye just based on the fact he’s not weird and left handed,” Amell said before quickly clarifying that his response was meant to be taken in jest. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding, just kidding.”

Having played Oliver Green on the small screen since 2012 on The CW’s flagship DCTV series Arrow, Amell clearly has a vested interested in the Emerald Archer, as the show is poised to return for its seventh season this fall.

Coming off its sixth season, the long-running DC adaptation has seen some shake-ups, both on screen and behind-the-scenes, with changes to the series cast and crew, including several high-profile departures. With new showrunner Beth Schwartz, Arrow teases a more comic book-faithful costume going into the seventh season, along with the arrival of the Longbow Hunters, referencing the supervillain team from Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino’s critically acclaimed run on Green Arrow.
