Bravo Media is developing a television series based on Dark Horse Comics’ The Fifth Beatle: The Brian Epstein Story graphic novel by Vivek J. Tiwary, Andrew C. Robinson and Kyle Baker. The series will recount the personal triumphs and struggles of Brian Epstein, the manger who helped launch the Beatles’ career.

Tiwary will act as primary writer and executive producer on the adaptation. With him comes access to the John Lennon-Paul McCartney song catalog, a highly sought-after prize that has been achieved by no other Beatles biopic up until now. The adaptation will be a limited, multi-part series.

Brian Epstein is perhaps one of the most overlooked factors in the Beatles’ success. The manager discovered the band in a Liverpool club and nurtured their talent to the point that they became an unprecedented international success.

Epstein was beset by personal struggles throughout his life, as he was a gay, Jewish man living in England in an era where homosexuality was illegal on a federal level. Because of this, Epstein was alienated from his peers and was often seen as the odd man out. Through all of this, Epstein kept on his steadfast belief that Beatles had the potential to be one of the biggest acts of all time.
