Artist/writer Joelle Jones and colorist Laura Allred will launch an all-new Catwoman ongoing series for DC Comics. The announcement came during the publisher’s DC Batman panel Saturday afternoon at the Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo.

Debuting on July 4 — the same day as Batman #50, featuring the wedding between Catwoman and Batman — Catwoman #1 follows Selina Kyle on her wedding night as she attempts to catch a copycat burglar on the streets of Gotham City. The root cause of Selina’s troubles will be a brand new villain.

Catwoman has become a key member of writer Tom King’s Batman run, after the Caped Crusader proposed in Issue #24. But before the Bat and the Cat walk down the aisle in Batman #50, the happy couple will have to deal with the Joker learning about their upcoming nuptials in DC Nation #0, before kidnapping his archrival in “The Best Man” story arc running through Batman #48-49.

Jones illustrated Selina’s search for the perfect dress in this week’s Batman #46, as well as Parts Three and Four of the “Superfriends” story arc, guest-starring Wonder Woman. The Eisner Award nominee also wrote and illustrated the Supergirl: Being Super miniseries.
