DC's Flashpoint Rumored to be Filming in Vancouver

It looks like Warner Bros. and DC Films’ upcoming Flashpoint movie could be headed to Canada.

According to Omega Underground, they’ve learned that the upcoming DC Comics-based film could be shooting in Vancouver, British Columbia. And while the information has yet to be confirmed, there’s precedent for Warner Bros. filming in the area.

Zack Snyder’s 2009 Watchmen film had scenes shot in Vancouver, while Man of Steel’s oil rig rescue was filmed near the city’s North Shore. And, of course, the current live-action Flash TV series films in the great Canadian west coast metropolis.

The rumors come just after the announcement that Game Night and Vacation (2015) directors would be helming the project. Directors Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa had each been tied to the project at some point, but have since departed.

Flashpoint was a 2011 comic book event series written by DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and illustrated by Andy Kubert. It starred Barry Allen, who traveled back to the past to prevent his mother’s murder. This altered the timeline and created a new alternate reality where Barry was no longer The Flash, and changed many of the most recognizable heroes and villains across the DC Universe. The conclusion of the story opened the door for the New 52 publishing initiative.

Flashpoint stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Billy Crudup as Henry Allen, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and possibly Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Originally intended to hit theaters on March 16, 2018, when it was titled simply The Flash, the film currently has no release date.
