While Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom still doesn’t open stateside for just under two weeks, it’s already doing big business overseas.

The latest Jurassic Park film opened in 48 international territories over the weekend, including the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, France, Russia and Hong Kong. The film earned $151.1 million internationally over the weekend — an impressive box office total considering it has yet to open in North America, China, Japan, Australia and Brazil.

With a production budget of $170 million, this puts the sequel well on its way to becoming another successful entry in Universal’s Jurassic Park franchise, though still a ways off from reaching Jurassic World‘s 2015 box office total. The previous film had earned over $1.67 billion worldwide, with over $1 billion of that total earned overseas. Fallen Kingdom is currently estimated to make anywhere from $150-170 million in North America during its opening weekend; while a significant drop from Jurassic World‘s $200.8 million domestic opening weekend, it’s still an impressive box office haul.

This lowered box office estimate may be due to a weaker critical response, which places the sequel at 62% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the 2015 film’s 71%. This includes CBR‘s own advance review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which notes it “tries and fails to update franchise”.
