Movies

On the heels of the film’s brand new trailer, Warner Bros. has now released a new poster and complete synopsis for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Featuring the first movie’s returning protagonist, Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne), the poster also gives fans a new glimpse at Jude Law’s portrayal of a much younger Albus Dumbledore than we’ve come to know in the Harry Potter films and novels.

The arrival of the brilliant wizard made famous during J.K. Rowling’s original Harry Potter series couldn’t be more timely, as the sequel’s synopsis reveals that Newt is going to need all the help he can get in the wake of Grindelwald’s planned atrocities:

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second of five all-new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

Arriving Nov. 16, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is directed by David Yates, with J.K. Rowling, David Heyman, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram serving as producers. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald, Katherine Waterston as Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie, Dan Fogler as Jacob, Ezra Miller as Credence, Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange and Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander.
