Feige Debunks Another Avengers 4 Title Rumor

One more fan theory regarding the title for the fourth Avengers film , next year’s follow-up to Infinity War, has been debunked.

“My favorite wrong theory about Avengers 4 is that it will be called Infinity Gauntlet,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently said in an interview. “Definitely not called that,” he told Collider. “When we [will] announce the title I am not sure, but as I’ve probably said to you, it’s gotten completely blown out of proportion.”

First announced in October 2014 jointly with the third Avengers film as Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2, Marvel later revealed the 2019 MCU film would be retitled. Since then, the name has remained shrouded in secrecy.

“We did not want to call it Part One and Part Two,” Feige recently stated, also revealing that the true title for the sequel was determined early in development. “Although it will be quite evident that the films obviously connect, as all our films do, but this in particular connects very directly. And then we changed the Part One and Part Two, we said let’s just keep this Infinity War and we’ll talk about the next movie later.”

While Infinity War and its still-untitled sequel certainly draw inspiration from Infinity Gauntlet, the classic 1991 Marvel crossover written by Thanos co-creator Jim Starlin with art by George Perez and Ron Lim, the record-breaking Avengers sequel has proven to be very much its own story with the highly anticipated sequel serving as a climax to a decade of films for the MCU.
