First Look At Netflix's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

DreamWorks Animation Television and Netflix have unveiled the first poster for their animated reboot She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, accompanied by an announcement of the voice cast.

Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor) stars as Princess Adora and her titular alter ego. She’s joined by Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad) as Glimmer, AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs) as Catra, Marcus Scribner (Black-ish) as Bow, Reshma Shetty (Royal Pains) as Angella, Lorraine Toussaint (Orange Is the New Black) as Shadow Weaver, Keston John (The Good Place) as Hordak, Lauren Ash (Superstore) as Sorpia, Christine Woods (Hello Ladies) as Entrapta, Genesis Rodriguez (Time After Time) as Perfuma, Jordan Fisher (Grease Live!) as Seahawk, Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Mermista, Merit Leighton (Alexa & Katie) as Frosta, Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) as Castaspella, and Krystal Joy Brown (Motown: The Musical) as Netossa.

Netflix has also has released a photo of the cast, joined by showrunner Noelle Stevenson (co-creator of Lumberjanes). Another comic book veteran, Chuck Austen — known for his runs on Uncanny X-Men, Action Comics and more, before moving away from the comics industry and into animation — is also an executive producer on the series.

Announced in December, the DreamWorks reboot promises to position the 1980s icon to a new generation of fans. The studio similarly updated Voltron on Netflix with Voltron: Legendary Defender to critical acclaim.

First appearing in 1985 as the twin sister of Prince Adam from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Princess Adora transforms into the mighty She-Ra using the Sword of Protection. As her powerful alter ego, she leads the Princesses of Power to defend the honor of Grayskull from the forces of evil.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is scheduled to premiere later this year on Netflix. CBR alum Josie Campbell serves as the series’ story editor.
