Although chances for a fourth season are grim, Lucifer fans can yet look forward to two new episodes beyond the finale of the canceled Fox drama.
Filmed earlier this year to be part of a prospective Season 4, two standalone episodes are set to air on Fox next week as “bonus” episodes. They will air back to back on May 28.

The first of the two episodes is titled “Boo Normal,” and guest stars Charlyne Yi (Paper Heart) as a friend of Ella’s who may be ghost, while the team investigates the murder of a child psychiatrist.
The two bonus episodes air in the wake of fan outcry over the cancellation of Lucifer after three seasons. While series star Tom Ellis has vowed to fight for renewal, the series has yet to be picked up by a new network. The tentative series finale aired on May 14 to a slight increase in ratings from previous episodes.

Debuting in 2016, Lucifer stars Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, who, after becoming bored with his duties as Lord of Hell, relinquishes his throne, and decides to assist the LAPD to stave off his boredom. The character was introduced in 1989 by Neil Gaiman and Sam Kieth in DC’s The Sandman #4 and went on to star in his own spinoff series, the first of which ran for 75 issues.
