Guardians of the Galaxy/Deadpool Team-Up Teased by Gunn, Reynolds

Movies

The great thing about comic book movies is that they unite fans (when they’re not fighting, of course), actors, writers, directors and so much more of the creative fraternity who simply want to see the superhero genre blossom. Now, Deadpool 2 star Ryan Reynolds and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn have taken things to a fan-fiction level by teasing a team-up between both parties.

With the Fox buyout from Disney still to be sealed, it does seem like wishful thinking for now, but that didn’t stop both men from tweeting out what fans would love to see come true someday on the big screen.

Thank you James! Crossover?

Gunn congratulated Reynolds, also a writer on the film, on its success, only for Reynolds to ask about the possibility of a crossover. Gunn’s response would surely have excited those who’d love to see Wade Wilson exchanging quips with Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, talking weapons with Rocket Raccoon and engaging in banter with the likes of Drax and Mantis.

Yes, please.

In the comics, Deadpool has crossed paths with the cosmic ensemble (as per books like 2015’s Guardians Team-Up #10), but if that’s to happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’ll definitely need to clean up his language. (Or disguise it like Groot does, because let’s face it, Wade has already made Thanos jokes, so clearly he’s familiar with the galactic affairs of the MCU.) Either way, the potential for action and comedy with such a crossover is quite explosive, so until then, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable and Julian Dennison as Russell. The film is playing in theaters everywhere now.
