Infinity War Promo Pits Black Widow Against Black Order

Movies

In a new 30-second Avengers: Infinity War promo, Black Widow takes on a member of Thanos’ Black Order.

For the most part, the promo features footage we’ve already seen, but a quick glimpse shows Scarlett Johansson’s Widow engaging the villain, who can be seen wielding a spear. Widow, fighting with a staff of her own, can be heard via voice-over, saying, “We don’t wanna kill you… but we will,” perhaps warning the Black Order members how far the Avengers are willing to go to protect Earth.

The video also gives characters such as Gamora, Thor, Okoye and Scarlet Witch some time in the spotlight and emphasizes how dire the threat of Thanos really is as he aims to gather all the Infinity Stones and rule the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Mad Titan will deploy the Black Order, also known as the Children of Thanos, to help assemble these artifacts so that he can fill his Infinity Gauntlet and achieve his ultimate goal of reshaping the galaxy.

The Black Order first appeared in 2013’s New Avengers #8 and was created by Jonathan Hickman, Jerome Opeña and Jim Cheung. They played a key role in the Infinity storyline, which featured them taking on the Illuminati (then comprised of Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Namor, Black Bolt and Mr. Fantastic) in pursuit of the Infinity Stones/Gems.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin, among others. The film opens April 27.
