Kizuna AI Inaugurated as Japanese Tourism Ambassador!

The (self-proclaimed) world’s first virtual YouTuber Kizuna AI has been appointed as the first ambassador for a Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) campaign titled “Come to JAPAN”, which aims to increase American tourism to Japan!

With this, JNTO hopes to increase fans’ interest in visiting Japan through her online reach on YouTube and various social networks. Since opening her YouTube channel on Dec. 1, 2016, Kizuna AI has become a huge hit, doing everything from singing and dancing to participating in different challenges. Her main channel is A.I.Channel, which has 1.5 million subscribers. There are also 600,000 people subscribed to her game-focused channel A.I.Games.

The four main aspects of the campaign and its official website are as follows.

1. Learn about the charm of traveling around Japan through videos and articles with Kizuna AI
Everyone can learn about traveling around Japan and the country’s highlights including food, fashion, traditional arts, technology, culture, sports, nature, and history alongside Kizuna Ai!

2. Take the quiz for the chance to score a special prize
There’s a special quiz campaign on the site, and there are quizzes with 20 questions related to videos and articles. If you get the minimum number of points, you’ll be entered in a contest to win a special prize!

3. Visit the lottery booth at Japan Week in New York
Japan Week 2018 is being held from Mar. 14-17 at Grand Central Station, and visitors can enter a drawing to win a pair of tickets to visit Japan!

4. See tourists’ visits to Japan through Instagram photos
There’s also a dedicated hashtag on Instagram (#japantripsenpai) in which you can check out what people did and saw on their own trips to Japan~
