Chip Zdarsky, writer of Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man and Marvel Two-in-One, has signed an exclusive agreement with Marvel Comics.

Known for his collaboration with Matt Fraction on Sex Criminals, and for such work as Prison Funnies and Archie Comics’ Jughead, Zdarsky made his Marvel series debut in 2016 with Howard the Duck, with artist Joe Quinones. His credits for the publisher also include Star-Lord, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Civil War II: Choosing Sides and Not Brand Ecch. Zdarsky and artist Adam Kubert launched Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man last year.

“I’m thrilled to be with Marvel,” Zdarsky said in a statement. “This deal means I get to do whatever I want with whatever characters I want and nobody can stop me, which is great. I feel reinvigorated, like someone slapped a new #1 on me and, honestly? I couldn’t be happier.”

The news of Zdarsky’s exclusive agreement is accompanied by announcement that the writer will partner in June with artist Mike Allred for Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #1 and with artist Declan Shalvey for Marvel Two-in-One Annual #1.
