Marvel's Ghost Rider Cast as the New Terminator

Marvel Cinematic Universe actor and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Ghost Rider, Gabriel Luna, has boarded the sixth entry in James Cameron’s Terminator franchise as the film’s titular Terminator. Joining Luna in the film, which is reportedly going to ignore the events of every Terminator after the second entry, are Natalia Reyes (Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas) and Diego Boneta (Scream Queens).

Distributor Paramount Pictures recently pushed the release of Terminator 6 to November 22, 2019. Though the news of the film’s release shuffle came just as franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger underwent an emergency catheter valve replacement surgery, the studio insists the move was not affected by the original Terminator actor’s health.

Terminator 6, which will take place after the events of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, is reportedly going to bring back Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) in starring roles. While Schwarzenegger has returned to the franchise on a number of occasions, this marks Hamilton’s first return to the series since providing voice work for 2009’s Terminator: Salvation.

Filming is set to begin in June of this year before wrapping in mid-October.

Opening Nov. 22, 2019, Tim Miller (Deadpool) will direct the currently-untitled film. The writers’ room includes David S. Goyer, Justin Rhodes, Billy Ray and Josh Friedman, who served as the showrunner on Fox’s The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
