Michelle Pfeiffer Reveals Her Apprehensions About Ant-Man

Movies

Although Marvel movies have become something of a symbol or a notch for many to add to their film credits, not every actor is immediately won over by these movies, even as they break box office records and win over critics.

Actor Michelle Pfeiffer has admitted that she wasn’t sure about what to think of Ant-Man at first, indicating she ended up being “pleasantly surprised” by the 2015 solo film. Pfeiffer stars in Ant-Man and Wasp, playing the part of Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp, Hope’s mother and wife of Hank Pym.

“My first exposure to Marvel would have been Spider-Man and then Iron Man, both of which I really loved. I guess I discovered Marvel through my children,” Pfeiffer told News 18.

“Then I saw Ant-Man, and I really loved it. At first, I thought Ant-Man? I was not familiar with the superhero Ant-Man. By the sound of it, I was a little skeptical, but I really was pleasantly surprised.”

“I’ve always been such a Paul Rudd fan, and the movie was really smart and really funny and also grounded in reality in a way that it had this very unusual tone to it that I think set it apart from a lot of the other superhero movies that I had seen,” she noted.

The second part in the Ant-Man series of movies will soon be in theaters, with the film being directed by Peyton Reed and focusing on events which take place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

Pfeiffer had high praise for the rest of the cast, saying, “All of these actors are actors that I’ve admired over the years and wanted to work with. So it’s been exciting for me to work with people that I admire and respect.”

Ant-man and the Wasp is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 6.
