Although we know a Black Widow movie is (finally) happening, details surrounding the project have been relatively sparse, including which fellow heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will join Natasha in her first-ever solo flick. However, at least one Marvel character is tossing their name into the mix of hopefuls — Adrianne Palicki’s Bobbi Morse.
Palicki, of course, made her grand debut in Season 2 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird. Despite only appearing for two seasons, the character left quite a mark and was initially set to lead her own spin-off series on ABC titled Marvel’s Most Wanted. When that project never came to fruition, it seemed as though Palicki’s time as Morse had come to an end. In response to a Twitter post by Comicbook.com asking whether or not the upcoming Black Widow film could see Morse return, the actor simply responded with a GIF from her time on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., implying she was all for the possibility.

Unfortunately, while the television shows — especially Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. — do their best to connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the television shows are still separate entities from the films. And given Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige’s confirmation that Daredevil wouldn’t make an appearance in Black Widow, it’s highly unlikely Morse would, either. Still, one can hope as Black Widow would be the perfect opportunity to further explore Morse’s S.H.I.E.L.D. history while also offering up a chance for a fan-favorite character to finally return.

Black Widow will be directed by Berlin Syndrome director Cate Shortland from a script by Jac Schaeffer. As of now, the film does not currently have a release date, but it’s expected that it’ll be released sometime in 2020.
