Tom Holland’s next solo adventure as Peter Parker in next year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home is shaping up to be even bigger than Homecoming.

While working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel in London, longtime Marvel Studios editor Dan Lebental briefly teased that the webslinger’s next solo adventure will be more epic and comedic than last year’s Homecoming.

“I can’t say much about the new Spider Man, but I will offer up that it will be both grander in scale and even funnier than the last one,” revealed Lebental in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “The rest of the story will have to wait.”

This lines up with previous comments from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige who confirmed that the upcoming film will see Spider-Man go international with the action taking place “in other parts of the globe” along with reports that the sequel will see the live-action debut of the classic Marvel villain Mysterio.

Lebental has worked with Marvel Studios since the beginning of the MCU editing 2008’s Iron Man, 2010’s Iron Man 2, 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, 2015’s Ant-Man, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additionally, Lebental confirmed he is expected to begin work on Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 when production begins in January having previously worked as an editor on the first two installments of Marvel’s cosmic superteam.

In the meantime, fans can see Lebental’s latest work in Ant-Man and The Wasp which opens for Thursday night previews tonight.

“The goal was always to take this genre and infuse it with real human emotions. It has been rewarding in the sense that we advanced the genre past two-dimensional characters,” reflected Lebental on his career with Marvel Studios. “I personally get great joy out of working comedy into the stories. As long as the comedy doesn’t betray the stakes, then it becomes another added dimension.”

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. It is scheduled to be released on July 5, 2019.
