The trailer for the first episode of Short Treks bridging the gap between the first and second seasons of Star Trek: Discovery has been released.
Titled “Runaway”, the first mini-episode focuses on Ensign Tilly as she encounters a mysterious cloaked being on board the U.S.S. Discovery. With the titular runaway visibly wounded, it appears the individual has stowed away the Federation starship seeking a safe haven.

Short Treks was announced last week as a four-episode miniseries featuring a different character introduced during the first season of Star Trek: Discovery with the mini-episodes leading up the Discovery‘s Season 2 premiere sometime in 2019.
Like its parent series, Short Treks will air on the premium streaming service CBS All Access with the Tilly-centric episode scheduled to premiere on Thursday, October 4 with the three subsequent episodes set to air the first week of every following month.

Returning in 2019 on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo, and Anson Mount. The first season will be released on Blu-ray on November 13.
