Thanos' Black Order Get the Spotlight In New Avengers: Infinity War Poster

Movies

As fans patiently wait for the release of Avengers: Infinity War, some brand new posters shine the spotlight on Thanos’ Black Order.

The Infinity War trailer did a great job of keeping the characters a secret, but after D23 revealed statues of the Black Order last July, we always knew that they would play a part. The subservient children of the Mad Titan are sure to butt heads with the roster of various heroes, but we will have to wait and see what role they have in helping Daddy Dearest gather the Infinity Stones.

Revealed via Trends International, one poster puts the Black Order front and center. While most of the Infinity War hype has focused on the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Josh Brolin’s Thanos, we get our first real look at the Black Order ahead of the movie’s impending release. Thanos still takes center stage, but the poster does a clever job of obscuring the Infinity Gauntlet just enough so that we can’t see what stones are in it. However, easily the best part is an up-close and personal tease of the Black Order.

Looking at the artwork, it certainly seems that we are going for a comic book-accurate version of the Order as they look almost identical to their counterparts. There is Proxima Midnight (lower middle), Corvius Glave (center right), Ebony maw (top left) and Cull Obsidian (lower right). Also highlighted in the poster, we get a closer look at the alien Outriders, the giant ring device seen in the trailers and the Order’s presumed mode of transport with a fleet of ships.

Fans are already guessing that the Order’s role in Infinity War will lead to that epic battle in Wakanda featuring the great and the good of the MCU. While not all of the Black Order are likely to survive their brush with Avengers, at least one or two will presumably survive into the events of Avengers 4. We also know that impressive talents like Mark Hamill, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Nighy and Vin Diesel will be voicing the CGI villains, so it looks like they will be more than just a one-scene inclusion.

The various leaked LEGO sets revealed which of the Black Order would be fighting which Avenger and when, but it sounds like the entire movie will be building toward that brawl in Wakanda, possibly while looking for the final Infinity Stone. Either way, the Black Order are set to join a piece of MCU history with their villainous ways, so welcome to the family!

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War opens April 27.
