Frank Castle might have been able to clear his name and bring to light a dubious conspiracy inside the government, but his battle is far from over. Season 1 of the Netflix series The Punisher ended with the birth of one of Castle’s worst enemies in the comic book, Jigsaw. On the series, Jigsaw was once Frank’s friend Billy Russo (Ben Barnes), but a shocking betrayal rewrote their entire history and Frank saw no other choice but to permanently disfigure the man he used to call family.
While we don’t know much about the direction of Season 2 of the series yet, we already know that Billy will return — and by the look of things, he’ll be coming back with a vengeance of his own. Although filming for Season 2 was completed earlier this August, some new pictures from the New York set of The Punisher have just surfaced online, featuring Jon Bernthal’s titular vigilante going to war once more. While the Netflix side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t a place filled with comic book costumes, these set images showcase the return of Frank’s iconic skull-painted armored vest.
