The Simpsons Head to ‘Geriatric Park’ in Treehouse of Horror Poster

FOX has debuted the official one-sheet for the 29th annual “Treehouse of Horror” episode of The Simpsons.

Set to air around Halloween during the animated series’ landmark 30th season, “Treehouse of Horror XXIX” will satirize classic films like “Jurassic Park,” “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” and “The Three Faces of Eve” — all clearly represented in the poster, which you can check out below.

The poster will be handed out for free at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego. The Simpsons panel is scheduled for Saturday, July 21 (at noon) in Ballroom 20. Confirmed panel participants include creator Matt Groening, showrunner Al Jean, supervising director Mike Anderson, director David Silverman and voice actor Tress MacNeille.

The logline for the episode reads, “Homer wins an oyster-eating contest against the mythical Cthulhu. Springfield is overrun by plant body-snatchers, Lisa finally snaps, and Mr. Burns opens a retirement home with some Jurassic upgrades.”

In particular, the “Cthulhu for President” plot is a play on modern American politics, as showrunner Al Jean says it’s about choosing the “lesser of evils” to run the United States.

Meanwhile, “Geriatric Park” will showcase a plot in which Mr. Burnns launches an amusement park with dinosaurs…of the elderly variety.

“Treehouse of Horror XXIX,” written by Joel H. Cohen and directed by Matthew Faughnan, is set to air sometime this fall on FOX.
