Watch Letitia Wright's Vibranium Freestyle Rap

Movies

Letitia Wright might not be known for her freestyle rap skills, but she made a very valiant effort on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The actor, who plays Shuri, princess of Wakanda and sister to the Black Panther in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, was challenged to freestyle in a segment called Wheel of Freestlye. The segment gives participants three random prompts to work into their rap. Of course, one of the words Wright randomly drew was “Vibranium.”

Vibranium is an incredibly important material in Black Panther, as its presence in Wakanda allowed the African nation to become the technologically advanced, secretive country seen in the film. It is also apparently extremely difficult to mix into an off the cuff rap.

This is not Wright’s first time freestyling, though. The existence of her rapper alter ego, MC Baby Underbite, became a thing of common knowledge during the filming of Black Panther, when Lupita Nyong’o posted a video of Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett and Danai Gurira enjoying a freestyle session while on break. It turns out that Wright has a pretty decent flow when she is not being forced to work in prompts like “disco” and “Red Lobster” into her raps.
