Warner Bros. is reportedly developing an animated feature based on an iconic Looney Tunes character.
According to Deadline, the studio has hired Jon and Josh Silberman (Living Biblically) to pen an animated Wile E. Coyote feature titled Coyote Vs. Acme. While a director is not yet attached to the project, The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is on board as a producer.

Along with their work on CBS’ Living Biblically, Jon and Josh Silberman have previously worked on shows such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Bordertown and Deadbeat. This will mark the first feature for the writing and producing duo.
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Animation announced a Looney Tunes reboot for 2019 titled Looney Tunes Cartoons. The new episodes will vary from one to six minutes in length, with 1,000 minutes of new content to be distributed on multiple platforms, including digital streaming, mobile devices and television. Coyote Vs. Acme, however, will mark the first attempt at relaunching the franchise on the big screen following 1996’s Space Jam, a live-action hybrid which starred Michael Jordan, and 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action, which starred Brendan Fraser and Jenna Elfman. It’s worth noting a sequel is still being planned for the former, despite it being announced over two years ago.

The character Wile E. Coyote of made his debut back in 1949 in an episode titled “Fast and Furry-ous,” the first episode in which he attempted to capture the Road Runner — something he continually failed at, despite his extensive planning and devices from the Acme Corporation.
A release date for Coyote Vs. Acme has yet to be announced and the project appears to be in early stages.
