Today, Wonder Woman (1975) star Lynda Carter received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During the ceremony, Patty Jenkins — who directed 2017’s blockbuster hit Wonder Woman — honored Carter with a speech.
“It was Lynda’s portrayal of Wonder Woman that made me fall in love with her because her Wonder Woman made me believe that I could have whatever I wanted, and even more importantly, it made me unashamed to want it,” Jenkins shared. “She wasn’t afraid to be soft while tough, she wasn’t afraid to be as loving as she was strong, she wasn’t afraid to love being a woman and celebrate her femininity, all while kicking ass and changing the world.”

“You and I connected from the first time that we spoke,” Carter said of Jenkins in her own speech. “You got the character of Wonder Woman. I knew that from the moment we talked. Your being here means so much to me. Your brilliant work directing Wonder Woman and making her new again, making Wonder Woman a global hit, makes this journey here complete. Wonder Woman gave birth to my career and now we have come full circle, haven’t we? And we have millions of fans — new fans — so I thank you and, yes, you are my sister in so many ways.”

As Carter posed for photos with her star, she crossed her arms over her chest in Wonder Woman’s signature pose, eliciting screams from the audience. She is, of course, best known for her portrayal of the Amazon princess in the Wonder Woman TV series, which ran from 1975 to 1979. Recently, she appeared as President Olivia Marsdin in several Supergirl episodes.

Wonder Woman 2 will be directed by Patty Jenkins, who is set to co-write the film alongside DC Entertainment President & Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and Expendables scribe Dave Callaham. The film is set to hit theaters on Nov. 1, 2019.
