On Twitter, legendary artist Alex Ross shared a glimpse of his Superman artwork on the side of a trolley in San Diego less than a month before Comic-Con International, the biggest comic convention in North America:

This Superman piece won’t be the only San Diego Comic-Con surprise from the artist. Last week, SDCC Unofficial Blog shared an exclusive print by Alex Ross called “Kal-El: The Last Son of Krypton,” a 16″ x 20″ fine art giclée on paper that is limited to 50 pieces at a retail price of $395. The piece will be available at the Alex Ross Art booth during SDCC next month.
Known for his realistic depictions of some of the greatest comic book characters in fiction, Alex Ross has contributed comic covers and interior work for both Marvel Comics and DC Comics, his first major series being 1994’s miniseries Marvels. Ross is very familiar with drawing Superman, from his popular Elseworlds tale Kingdom Come with writer Mark Waid to the beautiful one-shot Superman: Peace on Earth with Batman: The Animated Series’ Paul Dini to his anthology book Mythology: The DC Comics Art of Alex Ross, penned by graphic designer Chip Kidd.
This year’s San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 19-22, 2018.
