Aquaman Movie Trailer Will Arrive Soon, Says Director James Wan

With Aquaman arriving in theaters in December, fans have been eager to get a look at Jason Momoa’s solo outing as the king of Atlantis, so much so that persistent rumors have swirled about the release of the first trailer, well before footage was screened at CinemaCon. But director James Wan assures the wait will be over, and soon.

Responding on Twitter to a fan’s question about the trailer’s release date, the filmmaker wrote only, “*whispering* Soooooon….” Although there’s not much to go on, Wan’s comment may add credence to the belief that the trailer debut will be timed to Comic-Con International, held July 19-22 in San Diego. That would be a full five months before Aquaman‘s theatrical release.

In the wake of Justice League‘s disappointing commercial and critical reception, there’s a lot riding on the performance of Aquaman. Not only was Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry widely considered one of the high points of Justice League, but his solo film is the only DC release until Shazam! in April 2019.

Arriving Dec. 21, director James Wan’s Aquaman stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren and Nicole Kidman.
