How Avengers: Infinity War Should Have Ended Paody

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers, naturally, for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, in theaters now.

Avengers: Infinity War ended with the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at their lowest point. Most of them had turned to dust, and Thanos seemingly got everything he wanted. But “How Avengers: Infinity War Should Have Ended” imagines five scenarios in which Earth’s Mightiest Heroes come out on top, with a surprisingly dark twist at the end.

Some of the outcomes include Nebula stealing the Infinity Gauntlet and wiping her father out of existence, and Star-Lord knocked unconscious before he can ruin the plan. While the alternative outcomes are mostly played for laughs, they’re also fairly practical.

As all superhero “How It Should Have Ended” videos do, the footage eventually cuts to the Superhero Café, where all of the Marvel heroes are sitting at a long table, with Batman and Superman on each end. In this version of Infinity War, Thor sliced off Thanos’ arm and took the Gauntlet for himself. After resurrecting Gamora and proclaiming himself the new king of Earth, he accidentally snaps his fingers a few times to the song playing in the background.

From there, it all goes downhill. The video cuts to the Supervillain Café, where all of the famous antagonists begin to disappear. Instead of Nick Fury, we follow Emperor Palpatine as he uses a similar paging device to signal one last ally before fading from existence. The pager drops to the ground, revealing the Deadpool logo.

Leaning more into telling overarching stories with their videos, this serves as a tease for when “How It Should Have Ended” continues the story. We’ll most likely see the payoff with the video released next year for Avengers 4.

In theaters now, Avengers: Infinity War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin.
