John Cena & Zac Efron Star in Reboot Fan Art

When it was first announced that Disney was looking to acquire 21st Century Fox, many were hopeful that this meant we’d see the X-Men and the Fantastic Four join the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon on the big screen. Unfortunately, with the approval of the deal still a ways off, it’s doubtful we’ll get a new take on either the X-Men or the Fantastic Four – for at least another year. Thankfully, though, a new piece of fan art helps Marvel lovers envision what the first family could look like with stars such as Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Zac Efron and… John Cena?

Boss Logic has made quite a name for himself in recent years by developing some of the Internet’s most exciting fan art. In fact, the artist even managed to grab the attention of Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo with his all-Hawkeye poster following the #WheresHawkeye hashtag on Twitter, as well as the excellent “The Last Shawarma.” So, it shouldn’t be surprising that he has, once again, delivered an exciting take on what could be the new Fantastic Four when (and if) they finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Both John Krasinski and Emily Blunt have had their hearts set on joining the MCU at one point or another for various roles, with Krasinski having auditioned for the role of Captain America and Blunt having originally been cast as Black Widow, before having been forced to pull out – then later being considered for the role of Peggy Carter. And while neither actor has managed to join the massive MCU as of yet, Krasinski has recently shown interest in tackling the role of Reed Richards in a F4 reboot.

And while both Krasinski and Blunt have been repeatedly fancast for the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, one other name that has continually popped up in fancasts for a potential Marvel role is former Disney actor, Zac Efron. In the above artwork, he’s envisioned as none other than Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch. About three years ago, Efron was rumored to be in the running for an unknown MCU role. That, of course, has never come to fruition; yet, if the rumor was, in fact, true, it’s clear the studio has some interest in working with Efron. Perhaps a potential role as Johnny Storm isn’t entirely implausible then?

The most surprising addition, though, is that of John Cena whom Boss Logic has envisioned as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. Cena, of course, is an inspired choice for the role; though, after securing the leading role in the forthcoming Nuke Dukem film, Grimm could be a great follow-up – should Cena surprise in the video game adaptation.

For now, we still have quite some time before any official casting happens in a Fantastic Four reboot. Although Disney confirmed that they’d entered an agreement to purchase 21st Century Fox back in December, the actual deal will take anywhere from 12 to 18 months to close. This means there’s no way that the X-Men or Fantastic Four will show up alongside their MCU counterparts until 2020 at the earliest.
