Joker Set Photo Reveals Brett Cullen’s Thomas Wayne

Movies

Ever since Warner Bros.’ out-of-continuity Joker movie went into production, fans have been treated to numerous images, set photos and videos of Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the Clown Prince of Crime. However, the latest batch of set photos features not only the down-on-his-luck, pre-Joker Arthur Fleck but our first look at Brett Cullen’s Thomas Wayne, as well.

The photos, which were released by JustJared.com, show Phoenix’s Fleck taking a bit of a nasty spill. The final photo, though, gives us a full look at Cullen’s portrayal of the father of the man who will eventually become the Dark Knight of Gotham.

Previously, our closest look at Thomas Wayne came in the form of a campaign poster, which hinted that Joker‘s version of the character would be in the running for Mayor of Gotham City. This, of course, is in stark contrast to the Thomas Wayne readers know from the comics, who’s depicted as a doctor and a philanthropist.

Alec Baldwin was initially cast to play Thomas Wayne, but he stepped away in August, citing scheduling conflicts. However, he was swiftly replaced by Cullen.

Joker, the stand-alone origin movie for the Clown Prince of Crime, is directed by Todd Phillips (War Dogs) and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Brett Cullen, Robert De Niro (King of Comedy), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Bryan Callen (The Goldbergs) Marc Maron (Glow) and Shea Whigham (Vice Principals).
