Netflix has announced it will adapt Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler’s upcoming young adult graphic novel Cursed into a 10-episode series. The unreleased book has come a long way since it was announced a mere week ago.

Cursed is a reimagining of classic Arthurian lore from the perspective of a 16-year-old girl named Nimue, otherwise known as the Lady of the Lake. In Matter of Britain, the collection of medieval literature and myths from which the tale of King Arthur first sprang, Nimue was a powerful sorceress who gifted Arthur with Excalibur, enchanted the wizard Merlin and raised the knight Lancelot.

In Miller and Wheeler’s book, Nimue will be a young girl with gifts who joins up with Arthur in his quest to find Merlin and the magical blade Excalibur. According to Deadline, Nimue will eventually become a symbol of rebellion against the mysterious Red Paladins and their leader, King Uther.

Miller is best known for his work on series like Daredevil: Born Again, Sin City and The Dark Knight Returns. Wheeler co-wrote the LEGO: Ninjago Movie and penned the screenplay for Puss in Boots, a spinoff of the Shrek film series. The two will executive produce the series, which will be written alongside the show. Miller and Wheeler will use the television series to further explore the characters from the book.
