Studio Ponoc Announces New Short Film Anthology Movie!

Studio Ponoc, the animation studio founded by Arrietty’s Yonebayashi Hiromasa, has announced a new anthology film project!

Slated to premiere on Aug. 24 in Japan, the project’s first work is titled Modest Heroes and includes three stories. The first, Kanini and Kanino, will be directed by Yonebayashi and will feature the adventures of a pair of crab siblings. The second story, Life Ain’t Gonna Lose, will be directed by Momose Yoshiyuki and is the story of a mother and son inspired by real life. The final part, “Invisible”, is directed by Yamashita Akihiko and is an action drama surrounding the loneliness of an invisible man.

A high profile cast and crew including Odagiri Joe, Ono Machiko, Tanaka Min, Nakata Yasutaka and Muramatsu Takatsugu has also been assembled to bring Studio Ponoc’s latest venture to the big screen.

Ponoc Short Films Theatre, Chapter 1 – Modest Heroes premieres on Aug. 24 at cinemas across Japan.
