The sequel to last summer’s hit superhero blockbuster from Warner Bros., Wonder Woman, will be here before we know it. In fact, according to director Patty Jenkins, even production should be picking up before we know it.

“Very soon,” Jenkins said when asked by Variety about when the highly anticipated sequel would begin filming. “Shockingly soon.”

In January, we learned Wonder Woman 2 could begin shooting in England this summer. However, just two months later, it was revealed that the project could begin principal photography as early as May, and with the month nearly halfway over, that could — quite literally — mean it will begin filming any day now.

Details have been few and far between regarding about the sequel to the 2017 blockbuster, but we do know Kristen Wiig is set to play Diana of Themyscira’s arch-nemesis, Cheetah. Previously, Jenkins said she intends for the sequel to be “totally different” from its acclaimed predecessor. The film — as expected — is to be set in the 1980s, moving Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman decades through time, from the World War I backdrop of the original.

Released in June, Wonder Woman earned critical acclaim, and grossed nearly $822 million worldwide, delivering Warner Bros.’ struggling DC Extended Universe its first undeniable success.

Once again starring Gal Gadot in the title role, Wonder Woman 2 arrives in theaters Nov. 1, 2019.
