You want to come down to Midtown Comics Downtown for one of our star signings, but you don’t know where to start? Well then, have I got all the answers for the questions you were pondering on! (And the ones you didn’t even think to ask!)
Fans excitedly waiting for the NYCC signings to begin! How do the signings work?
It’s so easy! Simply show up to the store (we suggest a little bit early) and purchase the comic book(s) or items you would like to get signed.
Once you have those, you can jump on the line that forms outside the store. There, you will receive a ticket. Once the artist is ready, we take the first part of the line up into the store to wait inside.
There, you can un-bag and un-board your comics so they are ready to be signed!
When you reach the front of the line, a Midtown employee (most likely me!) will take your ticket and hand you Midtown Comics Certificates of Authenticity.
When it’s your turn, head up to the creator table and VOILA! They will sign your books or items! Easy, right?
What time should I get there?
We try to run our signings at hours that work best for our customers. Normal signing start time is 6pm and it runs until the store closes at 8pm. However you should always check our Facebook Events page for every event to make sure that this is the scheduled time.
We suggest you show up a little bit early, particularly for the higher volume, busier signings. This will ensure you get your item signed as quickly as possible.
The line typically wraps outside. This means the closer you are to the front of the line, the less time you have to stand out in the cold. If you haven’t purchased a comic from us to be signed yet, make sure to show up a little bit early to make your purchase!
How much does a Midtown Comics signing cost?
We don’t charge for the signature itself, unless you choose to do CGC (have your comic sent out to be graded.) In this case there is a small creator fee that varies for every guest.
Instead, we require that you purchase 1 item from the store to be signed. It could be a comic from the creator (perhaps a Midtown Exclusive variant cover), a POP or figure of a character the creator worked on, or even a piece of apparel!
How many items can I get signed?
You can get up to 3 items signed.
If there are multiple creators, it is 3 from each creator.
For those who want additional items signed, if there is time permitting, we will allow customers to get their first 3 items signed, receive another ticket and hop back on the line for those 3 extra items.
What kind of items can I get signed?
We only require that you purchase 1 item from the store for the signing. Although technically it doesn’t have to be one of your 3 items signed if you already have 3 things you had in mind.
The other two items you can purchase from us as well or bring something from home- it’s entirely up to you! As long as it has a sign-able surface, and a link to the creator signing it, anything is game!
Typical signed items include comics from the creator, variant covers from the creator and POP’s! But I have also seen some great atypical items signed like folios, purses, baseballs, art books, hats, posters, utility belts and tablecloths!
While we don’t encourage you to get too creative, we suggest finding items that have value to you!
Fans show off their Marvel Masterpiece cards to artist Joe Jusko to get signed!
What kind of guests do you bring in for signings?
Anyone related to our business, and most importantly, guests that have value to YOU!
We’ve had comic book writers and artists like: Scott Snyder, Francesco Mattina. We also bring in musical artists like Lights, authors, actors, and voice actors.
If there is someone you would love to get into the store for a signing, reach out to us on social media and let us know!
Do I need to sign up? Is there limited space?
There is no sign up. The only limitation we have for the majority of our signings is a time constraint. This is because most signings only run for 2 hours.
We try to keep things moving faster for larger signings to ensure as best we can that everyone on the line gets into the signing.
Where is the Midtown Comics Downtown store?
Midtown Comics Downtown is at64 Fulton St, New York, NY, near the corner of Gold St. It is easily accessible from the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, J, and Z trains from the Fulton Street Station.
Can I get sketches/commissions done?
This depends on the artist at the signing, and the number of people waiting for the signing.
Some artists are willing to do sketches for an extra fee.
Some will do them for no fee.
Some won’t do them at all.
Sometimes one of our guests will be willing to do sketches, but the line and time constraints don’t allow for it.
As a rule, it’s best to ask one of the Midtown Comics employees at the store at each signing for details.
Mark Bagley working on a Spider-Man sketch
Can I take a photo with the guests?
I can’t give a definitive “YES” to this question because it depends on the creator. However, most signings guests we have are more than happy to put a grin on and get cozy for a picture.
As always, it’s best to ask one of our Midtown employees for a swift and accurate answer.
Do you offer CGC or other grading services?
Yes! Midtown Comics is now offering in-store CGC to have comics signed at our signings graded and sealed for collectors!
As a service which is almost exclusively reserved for convention attendees, we’re excited to bring this opportunity to our Midtown customers!
Our store now has a CGC expert on hand and a CGC witness to facilitate yellow label Signature Series books. There is an additional fee for CGC. These include an artist, processing and shipping fees. But we’ve got an expert on hand to walk you through it!
Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to have your signed books sent to be graded and sealed! It’s a collectors dream!
Not sure if you want to dive into CGC? Stay tuned for next week’s post where we break down all your CGG Questions, concerns and give you the answers and information you crave!
Well that’s all I got folks! As always, for any additional questions, concerns, suggestions which we didn’t cover here, feel free to reach out to us through our social media platforms! Find us on , and ! We’d love to hear from you!
Till next time Midtowners!

The Boba Fett movie is officially dead, but new details have recently emerged that reveal plot points for what might have been in the standalone story.
, the Boba Fett film would have followed not just the infamous Mandalorian clone, but the bounty-hunting associates seen standing next to him in The Empire Strikes Back.
RELATED:
The lizard-like Bossk, the head wrap-sporting Dengar, a rogue protocol droid dubbed 4-Lom, the insectoid tracker Zuckuss, the IC-88 assassin droid, and of course Boba Fett himself, were all hired by Darth Vader in Empire to find the Millennium Falcon, “by any methods necessary.” The Sith lord noted in particular to Fett that he wanted the Falcon’s crew alive, wagging a finger in his face and pointedly instructing, “No disintegration.”
The backgrounds of these bounty hunters have since been expanded to varying degrees over the years, both within and outside of main Star Wars continuity. Boba Fett seemingly would have fleshed-out their characters more, however, as they worked with and against each other to capture the Falcon and her crew.
RELATED:
Before being loosely attached to , the Boba Fett film was originally planned with director Josh Trank at the Helm. His allegedly erratic on-set behavior during the 2015 Fantastic 4 reboot, however, forced Disney to reconsider his appointment before ultimately firing him from the project.
After the returns of Solo: A Star Wars Story reportedly disappointed the studio, Disney quietly let the film stall. Last week, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy officially announced, via journalist Erick Weber, that “the Boba Fett movie was 100% dead.”
Luckily for fans of Boba Fett lore, Jon Favreau’s series, , has been confirmed to hit Disney’s streaming service in 2019. How much that will deal specifically with Boba Fett, however, remains to be seen.

SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Episode 4, Season 9 of . Tonight, The Walking Dead might have just clinched how Rick Grimes will leave the series. The man who’s led the show from its nascency only has one episode left before leaving for good and irrevocably changing the face of one of the most popular shows in television history.
RELATED:
Andrew Lincoln announced his departure from the series he’s helmed for nine seasons earlier this year, citing the desire to spend more time with family start a new chapter in his career. But rumors also swirled that he’d been creatively frustrated with the decision to kill off Carl, which makes sense, given how important Lincoln always believed Carl was to Rick’s motivation.
Carl has continued to serve in that capacity even from beyond the grave. It was essentially his dying wish that Rick offer amnesty to the Saviors and try to build a better world run by mercy and compassion. Rick’s been so committed to bringing that vision about, he’s grown blind to the fact that it might not work.
This week, those problems came to a head when Daryl actively aided Maggie in her assassination of Negan by intentionally keeping Rick away from Alexandria. The two wind up trapped in a pit near the bridge as two different walker herds close in on them. As they try to find their way out and work together, Daryl forces Rick to face the possibility that Rick’s grief might be motivation for him to forgive the Saviors, but he can’t demand it work that way for everyone else.
RELATED:
He pleads with Rick to let Carl go and abandon a utopia that might not be realistic, no matter how much Rick wants to create it in his son’s honor. Rick seems like he’s finally hearing Daryl for the first time in a long time, but they don’t get much further before gunshots ring out nearby and the two men are forced to get out of the pit with more urgency.
Things don’t get much better once they’re freed, what with two walker herds approaching. Rick decides to stay and lead them away from the bridge as Daryl rides off to see what’s going on, but the herds spook his horse and he gets thrown. He’s impaled on a piece of steel poking out of some reinforced concrete, putting him right back in the same position he was in in the pilot – wounded, alone and beset by monsters.
RELATED:
The episode ends on a cliffhanger, with no hope of rescue since Rick can’t move and no one’s around to carry him to safety. It’s doubtful we’re going to see an entire night dedicated to him writhing on a rock only to be devoured by walkers. Of course, it’s even more doubtful that Rick suffering a catastrophic injury in his penultimate episode will lead to anything but his tragic demise.
How exactly everything will actually play out remains to be seen, but it’s looking more and more likely that Rick Grimes will follow in his son’s footsteps when it comes time to leave the show he started nine years ago. Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC, The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Of all the character deaths at the end of this summer’s — and there were plenty to choose from — the one that hit most viewers the hardest was the young Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) disintegrating in the arms of his mentor, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.
Always ready to poke fun at their own pain, fans have developed a running joke out of the scene, finding creative new ways to remind each other of the tragedy.

With the character only briefly seen in silhouette or out of focus in flashbacks, speculation has mounted as to who portrays Bruce Wayne on DC Universe’s . And with the latest round of casting rumors debunked, it appears the mystery of who portrays the premium streaming service’s Caped Crusader continues.
that Lewis Tan, who previously appeared in this year’s Deadpool 2 as Shatterstar and as Zhou Chen on the first season of Netflix’s Iron Fist, was portraying the series’ incarnation of the Dark Knight. This rumor was compounded by this past June, holding a stack of Batman comics presumably for research.
RELATED:
Despite this alleged evidence, the rumor of Tan portraying Titans’ Batman has been refuted by Umberto Gonzalez, reporter for entertainment news site The Wrap.
No, Lewis Tan is NOT playing Bruce Wayne in TITANS.
— Umberto Gonzalez (@elmayimbe) With Tan evidently not portraying Bruce Wayne on the series, that leaves two major questions: Who is playing Batman on the inaugural DC Universe original series and what role did Tan meet with DC Entertainment for exactly this past summer?

Now streaming on DC Universe, Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Robin, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove, and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach. A new episode debuts each Friday.

Over the course of a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced many types of moviegoers, be they longtime comic fans or people completely new to the world of comics, to newer, more modernized origins for many of Marvel’s characters. But Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says the origin story in will be of a very different type.
In an interview with at the British Academy Britannia Awards, Feige was asked about Captain Marvel. After praising the film’s cast and progress, Feige said, “This one is very different and very exciting… It takes place in the 1990s and while it is an origin story of our hero, it is a very different type of origin story, which we’re excited to unveil to audiences.”
RELATED:
Kevin Feige: is "a different type of origin story"
— Variety (@Variety) Feige’s comments about the movie beg the question as to just how much Captain Marvel’s origin story in the film will differ from other MCU movies and the comics themselves. In the comics, Carol Danvers gained her original powers after the explosion of a Kree device called the Psyche-Magnetron merged her genetic structure with that of the original Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell, turning her into a human-Kree hybrid, Though Marvel’s adaptations are often faithful to their source material, the films have taken creative liberties with the origin stories of their characters, such as situating the creation of Iron Man in Afghanistan instead of Vietnam.
RELATED:
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. The film arrives March 8, 2019.

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Season 3, streaming now on Netflix. One of the most welcome additions to the third season of Daredevil was FBI Special Agent Ray Nadeem, a beleaguered family man who struggles to provide for his wife and son. At the beginning of the new season, incarcerated crime lord Wilson Fisk cuts a deal with Nadeem to transfer to house arrest but is eventually killed by fellow FBI agent gone rogue, Benjamin Poindexter who works with the Kingpin as the villainous Bullseye.
In new interview, actor Jay Ali, who portrays Nadeem, revealed that the FBI agent’s death was not always a sure thing.
RELATED:
“When [showrunner Erik Oleson] told me that [Nadeem would die], I was like, ‘Okay, this is gonna be great. It’s gonna be a great arc,'” explained Ali in an interview with when he first learned of Nadeem’s impending death. “Then I remember halfway through the season, he came to me and he was like, ‘Look, we’re thinking of not actually killing Ray.’ But we had a discussion about it, and we were like, ‘It’s the right thing to do for the story, to do that.'”
So while Nadeem’s death had been originally intended for character, a proposed last-minute rewrite could’ve saved the character to potentially appear in future stories across Netflix’s Marvel series. Instead, the family man became another victim at the hands of Poindexter and helped illustrate the former lawman’s descent into psychotic villainy.

Now available on Netflix, Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, Jay Ali as Rahul “Ray” Nadeem, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
