Trouble has hit the franchise as the spinoff has been hit with a lawsuit. According to , franchise producer Neal Moritz filed a lawsuit against Universal for breach of oral contract and promissory fraud after he was booted from the franchise’s first spinoff. Attorney Dale Kinsella called it a “classic example of Hollywood greed.” RELATED: Filming kicked off early last month with a behind-the-scenes look at Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in the characters of Hobbs and Shaw respectively, as well as the first look at Idris Elba’s new villain. The lawsuit says Moritz was removed from the project just days before cameras began rolling. Moritz is currently seeking to be reinstated as lead producer on the film, or to be paid “tens of millions dollars in damages in lost compensation.” According to the complaint, which can be read by going , Universal presented Moritz with the chance to either amend his oral producer deal and, in doing so, accept substantially inferior financial terms or be cut from the project altogether. Because Moritz refused to amend his contract, Universal forced him off the project. “Remarkably, despite Moritz having complete Pay-or-Play protection on all of his last several deals on the FF Franchise and having relied on Universal’s oral promises, Universal also took the extraordinary position that it was free to exploit Moritz’s ideas for Hobbs and Shaw, and his work product over an approximately year-and-a-half period, without honoring its oral producer agreement,” the filing states regarding Universal’s blockbuster franchise. RELATED: Universal is said to have made its new offer to Moritz over the summer and then officially acted on its decision on September 7, when it cut Moritz out of Hobbs and Shaw. Per the filing, Universal has reportedly claimed it can move forward on the project without Moritz’s inclusion. And as we’ve seen courtesy of those behind-the-scenes photos, filming is still very much underway and has been since Moritz’s ousting. The decision to amend his contract was said to be due to an “increased budget” on the film, although Moritz and his legal team refute those claims, stating that at the time of the offer the budget on the flick was actually $15 million under budget. We’ll have to wait and see if the lawsuit heads to trial, or if both parties will settle. As it stands right now, Hobbs and Shaw is still slated set to hit the big screen next summer. The Conners showrunner Bruce Helford has explained why the series chose to kill off Rosanne Barr’s character with a prescription drug overdose. Roseanne returned to television in 2017 to strong ratings, but Barr’s racist statements on Twitter in May of 2018 got the show canceled by ABC. The series was eventually revived as The Conners, returning to television screens earlier this week. While almost the entire cast and crew have returned, Roseanne (and the character heavily based on her) have been written off the show. In the first episode of The Conners, the character of Roseanne is revealed to have died of a painkiller overdose. This actually played off the character’s growing addiction to the drugs following surgery, which was a minor subplot of the Roseanne revival. RELATED: Writing an op-ed for , Roseanne and The Conners showrunner Bruce Helford elaborated on his decision to ultimately kill off the character instead of just writing her off the show. “There was a lot of chatter in the ether about how we should explain Roseanne’s absence,” said Helford. “Should she have a sudden heart attack, a mental breakdown or go off into the sunset on a boat with her son Jerry Garcia? Sony’s next Marvel antihero film, , may have just found its primary villain. According to new reports, The Living Vampire will take on friend-turned-enemy Loxias Crown in the planned solo film. Michael Morbius’ old friend will reportedly suffers from the same blood disorder as the title character and uses the experimental blood serum developed in the film to transform into a bloodthirsty, superhuman creature of the night with Morbius tasked to stop his sanguineous rampage once and for all. Hoping to reinvent the long-running zombie show with a time-jump, a whole host of new characters and the departure of fan-favorites like Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, is stumbling at the first hurdle. The AMC series’ revamped Season 9 just hit a new series low for ratings. reports that October 14’s “The Bridge” drew a disappointing Neilsen rating of 2.0 in the key 18-49 demographic and just 4.9 million viewers in the Live+Same Day numbers. To put this into context, The Walking Dead‘s previous demographic low was 2.4 back in Season 1. RELATED: Worryingly, the 4.9 million viewers is only just ahead of Season 1’s 4.7 million. “The Bridge” also managed to drop 20% of its audience from the Season 9 premiere. Season 9’s premiere pulled in 6.08 million viewers, which is a lot less than the Season 8 finale, and miles away from the 11.44 million who tuned in for the Season 8 premiere. For a while now, we’ve known that the still untitled film was in the midst of reshoots. For the past few weeks, we’ve seen actors officially wrap their filming, like Chris Evans who, a few days ago, after more than eight years. As we know, the film is set to mark the end of Marvel’s Phase 3 of movies, and it’s meant to be the final film for many of the original Avengers. Well, as they say, all good things must come to an end. Last night, the directors of the film, Joe and Anthony Russo, released a tweet that confirmed that they had officially wrapped on Avengers 4. Therefore, filming is officially done, and they are now ready to go into post-production, where they will polish and put the finishing touches on the film to get it ready for release next year. There is actually not much we can theorize from the mysterious picture, given that, for all we know, it could simply be a close-up shot of a filming light.
